Date
Once a date has been chosen,
the next two important considerations is location
and entertainment. If you are planning to hire an
entertainer you need to contact them soon to get
dates of availability.
If space is at a minimum, it
may be preferable to rent a hall or room. Here in
the mid-west, outdoor parties are not recommended.
The weather is too unpredictable and often too
windy. Paper plates and cups blowing off a table
takes away from the fun. A sudden storm has ruined
many parties! Additional
fees are charged for parties performed outside.
Schools
Parties can be done at school
only with written permission from the teacher and
administrator.
Restaurants
Rinky Dink does not do birthday parties at
restaurants unless
the party will be in a private room. The show and
party is for you and your guests, not the entire
restaurant.
The best ages for booking
entertainment explained on the Birthday
Party Page, such as a clown is from four to
eight years old.
Invitations should be sent out
three weeks in advance. The minimum should be no
more than two weeks prior to the party. They should
have clear information which includes: Who, what,
why, when, and where. Make sure the time and date
are emphasized and CLEAR
DIRECTIONS to the
party. Be sure to put R.S.V.P. on the invitation so
you will have an idea who and how many are coming.
Planning ahead makes the party run much smoother
and gives your child something to look forward to.
Refreshments can be simple
from cake and punch to a full meal. This really
depends upon your budget and personal tastes
The fewer distractions the
better!!!
1.
The Performance Area is usually best indoors with at least a
5’ x 5’ cleared area to be used for the
“stage." The performer needs a wall
space behind him/her and no one sitting
to the sides. If your party must be held outside,
please position audience and performer so sun is
not in anyone’s eyes.
2.
Adults in the room are encouraged to join
in the fun! (Should they prefer to chat, please
provide another room for them)
3.
The Refreshments are to be served after the
entertainment NOT during the show. (See “b”
below)
for the smoothest running
party
Your party should not last
over two hours!
a. Entertainment
first! Shortly after
the majority of guests arrive, your entertainer
will arrive and he/she will spend time getting
acquainted with guests. This is also the best time
to take any posed pictures of guests, honored
person and the entertainer. However, you are
encouraged to take as many pictures throughout the
party as you like!
b. Refreshments: When the entertainer finishes the
show with a happy birthday song, time has arrived
to serve refreshments. If you have requested the
balloon option, as the entertainer starts creating
the balloon animals you may begin preparing the
refreshments. As the guests receive their balloons,
they may be served. (Our entertainers do not
partake of the refreshments, thanks for asking!!!)
When all have received their balloons the
entertainer will say good-bye and exits.
c. Unwrapping
time! After
refreshments are served you may want to have a
short, simple game. If not, this is always the best
time to unwrap presents! Every one wants to play
with toys. Then comes the time to wind down the party. Be sure to thank your
guests for coming as you present the party favors.
4.
IMPORTANT:Your party time starts when your
entertainer arrives at your party! The entertainer's obligation will be
completed as scheduled regardless of delays. Should
there be delays because of “no shows,”
late arrivals, or change of party location due to
bad weather, etc., this is your responsibility.
Often, there are other bookings after yours and the
entertainer must be there on time.
Because weekends are quite
busy, there is a substantial discount in price for
parties held Monday through Thursday.
For Rinky Dink’s regular
comedy party or the balloon parties the number of
guests should be limited to 15. There will be an
additional charge of $1.00 per child beyond fifteen
(15).
